The team of Essen verbindet aims to set up a social enterprise that produces fresh school meals and integrates refugee women in a German-speaking team. Lunch will be prepared at the schools themselves, creating jobs and allowing school children to develop an appreciation of eating culture and food quality. All employees will be involved in all aspects of the work and will learn all steps in the process. Working in small teams together with German colleagues allows the refugee women to learn German. If they are suited for the job, they may be offered training or permanent employment. The project was already successfully implemented in one school and is now being rolled out to other schools and social institutions. The team is made up of women from a variety of backgrounds and aims to show that women of all ages can have a successful career.
